Amy Zerba is an assistant professor at the University of Florida's College of Journalism and Communications, where she teaches courses in online journalism and visual journalism. She has been studying the news habits and non-news habits of young adults (18-29) for the past eight years. She received her Ph.D. in journalism at the University of Texas at Austin in 2009 and her master's and bachelor's in journalism from the University of Florida.

She worked as an associate producer of interactives at CNN.com, most recently, and worked eight years as a page designer / copy editor at large daily newspapers, including the Sun-Sentinel, Houston Chronicle and Austin American-Statesman.
